Archie

2023

Archie (2023) is a 4 part biographical drama telling the story of Archibald Alec Leach who became known as the debonair actor Cary Grant (1904-1986).
Cary Grant was born in England, in a suburb of Bristol. When he was 9, his father had his mother institutionalised and a year later abandoned Archie who lived with his grandmother.
As a teenager, Archie joined an acrobatic troupe and travelled with them to New York. When the troupe went home, Archie stayed in the US and became Cary Grant.
Archie is an adaptation of a memoir by Dyan Cannon, Grant’s 4th wife. Jason Isaacs plays Cary Grant.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group.
