Hamilton: An American Musical is a sung-and-rapped-through musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The musical was inspired by Ron Chernow (2004) biography of Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, one of America's Founding Fathers, from orphaned immigrant to first Secretary of the Treasury of the United States. The West End production opened at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London in December 2017, winning seven Olivier Awards in 2018, including Best New Musical.
