Innocent

2018

Innocent is a British anthology television series that first broadcast in 2018.

In the first series, David Collins (Lee Ingleby) is released from prison after serving 7 years for the murder of his wife, Tara.

David’s children have been living in the kinship care of Tara’s sister, Alice (Hermione Norris) and her husband, Rob (Adrian Rawlins) during David’s imprisonment.

One of David’s first priorities is to gain access to his children and he faces considerable resistance from Alice who believes the children will not be safe with him.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group.
