2006

Lewis (2006-2015) is a British crime drama series.

The series, inspired by the of novels of Colin Dexter, is a sequel to the Inspector Morse series. It is set in Oxford, UK and stars Kevin Whately as Robbie Lewis and Laurence Fox as James Hathaway.

Much of the series is “punching up”. That is, the murders, fraudsters, thieves and abusers of children are from the ‘respectable’ class – they are academics, business people, and landed gentry.

There are some episodes with Care Experienced Characters.
S1Ep2 includes a former foster child who, with another woman, takes revenge on a group of men who as students who were responsible for a murder and for concealing that murder.
S1 Ep 4 includes a woman who has a child was convicted of a murder and held in youth detention.
S2 Ep1 includes an artist, a young man living with autism, who was raised in foster care and is no, unwittingly, involved in a crime.
S2 Ep 3 includes boy who was in juvenile detention and is now a hired thug.
S3 Ep1 includes victims who were a former foster child & a person who was orphaned in early childhood.
S4 Ep 1 – includes a 16 year old who was orphaned.
S4 Ep 4 – includes adoptees as murderers.
S5 Ep 2 – includes an academic with a background in Youth Detention after committing a series crime as a 10 year old.
S6 Ep 3 – the episode centres on an old children’s home, where adults who had lived there as children are now squatting. 2 are victims of murder.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group.
