Sir Isaac Newton

Short History of (Isaac Newton)

2024

Isaac Newton (1642-1726) was in kinship care with his grandmother for around 9 years after his widowed mother remarried and relocated to another village.

Something of Newton’s childhood is told on this podcast, in which his biographer concludes that young Isaac was devastated by being abandoned by his mother.

The podcast continues with Newton’s career @ Trinity College, Cambridge; the publication of his Principia Mathematica (1687); his extraordinary work across a variety of fields, and his time as an MP for the University of Cambridge.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group.
