In the 2nd series of the Irish drama series, Smother, Val Ahern (Dervla Kirwan) makes the decision that her husband's son from an extramaritial relationship is a threat when he suddently turns up after her husband's memorial service.

That the son (Dean Fagan) has been in foster care, youth detention, and prison all goes to the idea of him being a threat - and plays on a few stereotypes of kids in care too.
