The Life and Work of Muhammad

Yahiya Emerick

2002

Muhammad, the founder of Islam, grew up in the Arabian Pensinula. He was orphaned at the age of 6 and then lived in kinship care, first with his grandfather and then with an uncle. In this biography, Emerick explores Muhammad's childhood as well as his prophetic mission from the age of 40.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group.
