Nine year old Alice Hart goes to live with her grandmother on a flower farm after the tragic death of both her parents. On the farm she learns the language of Australia native flowers. Alice leaves the farm when, in her early 20s, she experiences a significant betrayal. She flees to the Australian desert and thinks there she's found a safe haven.
