Thirteen

2016

Thirteen (2016) is a British drama series centred on Ivy Moxam (Jodie Comer), a 26-year-old woman who has escaped from the cellar where she has been imprisoned for 13 years.

The series explores the profound difficulties Ivy has in returning to live with her family who – 13 years on - have different lives: her boyfriend has married, her sister is engaged, her father is with another woman.

Soon after Ivy returns home, another girl is abducted. Ivy is enlisted by the police to help them find Phoebe.

Children and young people in social care, and those who have left, are often subject to stigmatisation and discrimination. Being stigmatised and discriminated against can impact negatively on mental health and wellbeing not only during the care experience but often for many years after too. The project aims to contribute towards changing community attitudes towards care experienced people as a group. See glossary HERE
