Abandoned as a baby, Valda was found and raised by a Gypsy woman named Dorcas. Valda was created in 1968 for the Girl's comic Mandy, she was designed to be a female equivalent to the popular character William Wilson. Her first appearance was in the 56th issue of the comic.
